Citizenship by naturalization requirements

Citizenship of Moldova can be granted on request to persons aged 18 years and who have: 

  • lived in Republic of Moldova for at least 3 years; 
  • has resided lawfully for at least 3 years with parents or children; 
  • has lived in Moldova for five years before reaching the age of 18; 
  • Is a stateless or a recognized refugee and has resided the territory of Moldova for at least eight years; 
     

Knowledge of the national language and the provisions of the Constitution by the applicant for citizenship of Moldova shall be tested as determined by the Government.

Fees

Government processing fee: 

  • For the main applicant: 5000€; 
  • For spouse: 2500€; 
  • For children under 15: 1000€ / person; 
  • For children aged 16-29 years: 2000€ / person; 
  • For dependent parents above 55: 5000€ / person. 

Due diligence fee: 

  • For the main applicant: 6000€; 
  • For spouse, dependent children older than 16 years, and dependent parents: 5000€ / person. 

Biometric passport fees: 

  • 300€ / person.

Time frames

The government’s application assessment procedure usually takes up to 4 months, if all the requested documents have been provided correctly. However, the government may extend the period of due diligence inspections, if necessary.
